James T Johnson, Jr, age 88, of Hendersonville, TN formerly of Knoxville passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021. He was a Korean War Veteran who served in the U.S. Army and later retired from Tom’s Foods. He was raised in the Baptist Church and an inspiration to everyone he met. He never failed to share his strong faith every chance he had as well as sharing how good Jesus had been to him. A member of Lakeview Baptist Church, he attended Believers Baptist Church for many years after moving to Hendersonville, TN. He loved his family most of all; was an avid TN Vol fan; loved gospel music; never met a stranger; and was always awaiting the opportunity to put a smile on someone’s face. He is preceded in death by his parents, James T and Nettie L (Lovelace) Johnson, Sr.; Edna (Erna Friðriksdóttir) Johnson, his loving Icelandic wife of 66 years; and son, James A. Johnson. He is survived by a son, Rick (Judy) Johnson; grandchildren, Brandi (Trey) Pettis, Tiffany (Greg) Cook, Chris (Katie) Bumbalough, Tim Johnson, and Tyler Johnson; several great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 12pm-2pm Friday, February 26, 2021 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with funeral service to follow Rev. Clint Greene officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Treyson Pettis, Curt Bumbagough, Tyler Johnson, Chris Bumbalough, Greg Cook, Trey Pettis, James Rader, Eddie Cooper and Willard McCloud.
