James Russell "Rusty" Goosie

April 11, 1984 — September 11, 2016

James Russell “Rusty” Goosie, 32, met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 11, 2016. He overcame and triumphed through many years of health issues to see his dream come true, to have a family and home of his own. He met his beloved spouse, Morgan Goosie, and they traveled the world together. Rome and Hawaii, where he married Morgan on September 2, 2014, were his favorite places to visit. James loved children and during the summer of 2014, James and Morgan became foster parents in Knox County. They quickly welcomed two children, Zachariah and Charity, into their home. Less than a year later, they happily welcomed their sister, Jade. James instantly became an advocate for foster children, specifically those that had been affected by Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome. He even had an article published in a medical journal titled “U.S. Surgeon General Discusses Opioid Abuse in Tennessee”. In June 2016, Morgan and James legally adopted their three children. Education was extremely important to James. In December 2015, James graduated Colorado Technical University with his Master of Business Administration with emphasis in Healthcare Management. James was employed at Doctor’s Management where he served as a Senior Management Consultant. He loved his job, co-workers and clients very much. James was also co-owner of a family business. He enjoyed giving back to the community through this business. At an early age, James accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He loved the Lord with all his heart. James never met a stranger, constantly making friends along the way. He was loved by many and will forever be remembered for his loving, big heart and his advocacy work for children with NAS. James was always willing to help anyone in need. His parents and sisters will always remember his strong will to do things his way, his mischievous personality, and the laughter that followed his antics. James is preceded in death by his beloved Mamaw, Doris Huddleston, who was waiting for him at the gates of Heaven. He is survived by his loving spouse, Morgan; three children, Zachariah, Charity, and Jade; his two foster children; parents Pam and Fred Hickman; sisters Jennifer Pique, Savannah & Shelby Hickman; special brothers-in-law Curtis Pique & Spencer Goosie; special sister-in-law Kelly (Steven) White; Papaw James (Maxine) Huddleston; Aunts Kim (Ric) Raiford, Tracy (Gary) Thomas, & Kristi (Mike) May; cousins Joshua (Meagan) Norris, Nicole & Kaity May; dear friend Annita Reagan & daughter Willow; all of Morgan’s family who truly loved him. James had a very special relationship with Bryson and Serenity. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to an account at Knoxville TVA Credit Union, reference “James “Rusty” Goosie” for Morgan and the future care of their children.
