James (Jimmy) Robert Humphries left his temporary stay in this crazy world to join the Lord Monday evening, December 10, 2018.
Jimmy was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Kathy, parents Clifton Robert (Pete) and Margaret Louise (Funkhouser). He is survived by sons, Robert (Amy, Abbie, Annie) Todd (Michelle, Sadie, his pride and joy) Brothers Ben (Becky) & Johnnie, in-laws Bud (Belinda), Rick (Suzan), and Kelley (Fred), Cousins Vernon & Sharon Wise, friend Kenny Scarbrough (Diane) and so many more.
Jimmy grew up in the Burlington Community & graduated from East High School. He started out as a radio DJ, where he was Mad Mad Jim Humphries, WETE WRJZ and set the Guiness World Record for longest continuous radio broadcast in 1974, and then to work for Southern Railway for over 30 years. Along the way he had several side business adventures, Disco Dance, Jimmy's Concessions (Dip Dog Daddy), and Jimmy's Southern Pub where he had lots of friends and good times. He made so many friends and was able to give back to the community through his fundraising for Mobile Meals. Jimmy lived laughed and loved.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 7:00 pm on Sunday, December 16, 2018 with a service to follow at 7:00 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel, Chaplain Lonnie Qualls officiating. Interment to be held at a later date. The family asks for memorials to be made to Mobile Meals.
