James R. Nicely

James R. "Smiley" Nicely, age 91, passed away June 6, 2018. He was a member of Son Light Baptist Church. Smiley loved to tell jokes and make others laugh. He enjoyed life and was an avid square dancer. He served in the US Army during WWII in Japan. Preceded in death by children Robbie, Viki, Steve and Oodie; parents Ulrey and Carrie Nicely; siblings Mary Lee, Rena, Elmer and Edd. Left to cherish his memory are sisters Ruby Perry Evans and Pauline Nicely; 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Family and friends will meet 11:15AM Wednesday at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery (GJS Hwy.) for 11:30AM interment service. Family will receive friends 5-7PM Tuesday Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with funeral service to follow, Rev. Eddie Myers officiating.
