James "Sonny" Mynatt, Sr., of Halls Crossroads, passed away Sunday, July 22 at Holston Health and Rehab Center. He retired from TVA, was a member of IBEW Local 760, Bright Hope Lodge 557, a Shriner, and member of Union Baptist Church. He spent most of his life in Hall's but lived several years on his farm in Hogskin Valley in Union County. He farmed, raised cattle and made many lifelong friends. He loved playing country music and spent many of his younger years with different bands or just sitting by the fire picking with his friends, Wheatie Stout, Chubby Beeler and J.P. Ridenour. He even had the priviledge of playing with Archie Campbell at the Grand Old Opry.
He was preceded in death by parents, Roy and Hattie Mynatt; sister, Pauline (Robert) Cleveland; sons, John and Doug Mynatt; and brother-in-law, B.F. Dalton.
He is survived by his daughter, Angie (John) Turner; son, Jim (Sandy) Mynatt; sister, Mae Dalton; grandchildren, Dustin (Morgan), Jake (Nikki), Christy, Kacey (Eric), Sonnie and Sonya; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Tripp, Alora, Lycan; daughter-in-law, Vickie Mynatt; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00pm, Wednesday, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, with funeral service to follow at 8:00, with Rev. Richard Nicely and Rev. Andy Lynn officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:30am, Thursday, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel and proceed to Ft. Sumter Community Cemetery for graveside service at 11:00am.
