James Morton Gregory

James (Jim) Morton Gregory – age 82, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012. He was a lifelong resident of Halls and attended Union Baptist Church. Jim was born and raised in Rosehill, VA and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Preceded in death by wife, Stella Mildred Sharp Gregory; parents, Vernon Frances Gregory and Martha Weston Gregory, both were from Jonesville, VA. Sisters, Beulah Gregory of Jonesville, VA, Sybill Gregory Hounshell of Halls, Iva Gregory of Knoxville; brothers, Lester Gregory of Louisville, KY, Porter Gregory of Manassas, VA, Alonzo (Bill) Gregory, of Jonesville, VA, and Vernon F. Gregory, Jr. of Halls. Survived by sons, Boyd Gregory and wife, Vickie; Larry Gregory and wife, Alice; Daughter, Melissa Adkins; Grandchildren, Whitley, Ashley, Corey, Beth Ann, Kailey and C.J.; 6 great grandchildren he affectionately referred to as “The Storm”. Sister, Elizabeth Barber of Jonesville, VA and a host of nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow with Rev. Gary Vandergriff officiating. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 am Thursday and proceed to Union Baptist Church Cemetery for an interment service at 11:00 am.
