James (Jim) F. Purkey, age 76, of Knoxville, passed away August 21, 2013 after a long illness. Member of Iron workers local #384 lifetime member of the International Ironworkers. Preceded in death by parents Ollie and Silas Purkey and grandson, Jonathan Purkey. Surivors include wife, caregiver, and Best Friend for 44 years, Vickie Lynn Purkey; sons Terry Wayne Purkey (Angie) of Georgia, USAF Chief James A. Purkey (Belinda- Marie) of Japan, Jason Scott Purkey of Knoxville,; stepson Michael C. Treadway (Sherry) of Knoxville; grandsons Brady and Steven Purkey; granddaughter Virginia Purkey; 2 great-grandchildren, sister, Helen Perryman of Clay, KY, mother-in-law, Eula Hale, several inlaws, nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet Sunday 1:45pm at Greenwood Cemetery for graveside service at 2pm. Family will receive friends 6-8pm Saturday Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel.
