James “Jim” Eugene Sheppard, age 84, passed away Tuesday, November 15th, 2016 at Ben Atchley Veterans Home. Jim was of the Methodist Faith, loved to hunt, watch NASCAR and was a diehard Tennessee Vols fan. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served with the 696th Ordinance Ammunition Company, Ammo Supply. He was preceded in death by wife Helen Lawson Sheppard, parents Alvin and Frances Sheppard, brothers John and Leonard Sheppard, and special brother-in-law Erbie Foster. He will be missed by children Larry Sheppard, Debbie Prince and husband Bob, Kim Johnson, and Teresa Sammons and husband Dewayne; brothers Clyde (Jewel), Alvin Sheppard; sister Mary Foster; sisters-in-law Glenda Sheppard and Evelyn Needham; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. “We love you Papaw.” Special thanks to the caregivers and staff in C-wing at Ben Atchley Veterans Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 19th, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel, with Rev. Walter Cross officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 19th, 2016 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel.
