James “Jamie” P Earl, Jr, 54, passed away on October 22, 2024, with his loving wife at his side.
He was born on March 15, 1970, to the late James P Earl Sr and Brenda (Hamilton) Sponaugle in Columbus, Georgia. After graduating high school, Jamie went on to serve in the US Air Force where he spent four years in the Philippines.
He worked for Verizon Wireless for 18 years before moving to Knoxville, where he married his soulmate, Arla (Dugger) Earl. He then worked at G.L.S. for the last six years.
Jamie was the ultimate PC gamer, and especially enjoyed playing role playing games like Dungeons and Dragons. He could be lovingly compared to everyone’s favorite television character, Sheldon Cooper! Jamie was also a true Renaissance Man-a total gentleman who never said a cross word about anyone. Jamie had a gentle soul and treated everyone with kindness.
Jamie was preceded in death by his parents and both sets of grandparents, as well as twin daughters.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Arla; children, Jennifer Sexton and Teddy Smith, Jr.; beloved aunt, Donna Earl; and special pet, Mollie Mae Earl.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 5-7pm, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel. A celebration of Jamie’s life will immediately follow, with the family inviting anyone who knew Jaime to share a memory or story they have of him.
“A lifetime will never be enough time with you.”
Mynatt Funeral Home is honored to serve the Earl family.
