James E. “Jim” Heath, age 91, of Powell went to be with the Lord on September 29, 2018. He was a 1949 graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College. He was a member of the United States Armed Forces for 4 years. He was employed by State Farm Insurance Company and retired after 31 years of service. He was a longtime member of Beaver Brook Country Club. He was an avid golfer, reader and Lady Vols enthusiast. He was baptized at an early age at Salem Baptist Church.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Kanipe Heath; parents, Ida and Everett Heath; brother, Robert Heath; sisters, Marion Sutton and Helen Bales; and granddaughter, Tonya Paul.
James is survived by children, Donna (Bruce) Wilson, Carla (Jimmy) Smith, Brian (Pat) Heath, Sandy (Brian) Bardill, Eddie (Charlotte) Heath; sisters, Norma Cardwell, Wilma Harper and Shirley English; and he also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one special great nephew, Matthew Heath. The family would also like to thank the Ben Atchley Veterans Home for their loving and compassionate care.
The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00pm, Tuesday, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Family and friends will meet 10:45am, Wednesday, at McCloud Cemetery for a graveside service at 11:00am.
