James Dale Carlisle

August 4, 1945 — January 6, 2021

CARLISLE, JAMES DALE: (Jim) (Jimmy)- age 75 of Corryton, saw Jesus face to face at 4:38pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. He was a member of North Acres Baptist Church and retired in 2018 from TDOT Region 1 Garage. Jimmy was a loving husband, father, papaw, brother and uncle. A true example of honest hard work spending most of his life as an auto mechanic and in building maintenance. He also took great pride in his custodial responsibilities at Union Baptist Church for more than 30 years and at Rutledge Pike Baptist Church. “I’m taking care of God’s house” he would often say. Most of all, he enjoyed sharing his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and giving his testimony of salvation. In 1989, Jimmy completely gave his life to the Lord during a New Year’s Eve service at Grace Baptist Church in Halls. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” Psalm 116: 15. Awaiting him in Heaven: parents, J.A. & Lillie Carlisle; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Charles Gresham; sister, Carolyn Ownby; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Allene Wood. Left to cherish his memory are: dedicated wife and best friend of 30 years, who never left his side, Nancy Carlisle. sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Melanie Carlisle, Philip and Koa Wood; grandchildren, Braden Carlisle, Jabin Wood, Lillie Carlisle; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Gus Berrier; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Paula and David Walden, Larry and Liz Wood, Sandy and Greg Fisher; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 5pm-7pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 11am with Rev. William Purvis and Rev. Craig Cummings officiating. Immediately following, family and friends will go in procession to Washington Pike Presbyterian Cemetery for interment.
