CHESNEY, JAMES CARROLL age 75 of Corryton, TN entered into eternal rest on February 25, 2016. Waiting to welcome him was his beloved daughter Pamela Marie Chesney Stanifer, his loving parents Lorn and Bessie Chesney, his cherished sister Barbara DeMarcus as well as many other family and friends. Waiting to join him again is his faithful wife of 53 years Sue Chesney, son Byron (Mary) Chesney, daughter Jennifer (Jon) White, son Josh (Amanda) Chesney. Grandchildren Daniel (Casey) Stanifer, Amy Stanifer, Jessica, Matthew and Elizabeth Chesney, Isaac, Jonathan, David and Luke white, Chris, Ruthie, Logan and Ember Chesney, great granddaughter Polly Anne. Sister Brenda (Derrell) Frye, brother in law Chester DeMarcus and many more family and friends. James, an honors graduate from the University of Tennessee, taught American History at Mascot Elementary, East Knox Elementary and Carter Middle School until his retirement in 2001. His greatest love was teaching the Bible. A Deacon and Sunday School teacher he served at House Mountain Baptist, Union Baptist and Highland Baptist Church where he was presently a member. James loved to fish and hunt and always looked forward to planting and working in his garden each summer. He was a man of few words but much wisdom. Funeral Service and celebration of life will be held at Highland Baptist Church, Babelay Road on Saturday at 7pm with Dr. Byron Chesney and Rev. Jon White officiating. Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Eddie King, Michael Stanifer, Chester DeMarcus and Jim Carlisle. Internment Sunday at 2pm at Washington Pike Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Receiving of friends from 5 to 7 Saturday at the church. Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel in charge of arrangements.
