Jacob Edward Bales Jr, age 76 of Knoxville, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on September 26, 2022. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Bethany Baptist Church. Jacob served in the United States Marine Corp and did three tours in Vietnam, receiving several honorable medals. After his military career, Jacob had a long career in transportation and traveled all over the United States. Most of all he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be loved and missed forever. He is preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Evelyn Bales and his aunt and uncle Ethel and Carl Ammons. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Martha Bales, children Angel and Allen Fritts, Eddy Bales, and Bobby and Connie Bales, grandchildren Nicole and George Haines, Robert and Nick Bales, great-granddaughter Lexi McMillan, brothers R.C. Bales of Corbin, Kentucky, Gene Bales, Frank and Carol Ann Bales, sister Mae Bales, special friends, who are like family, Ernie and Sally Warren, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with a service to follow, Rev. Jim Dockins and Rev. Tim Wallace officiating. Family and friends will meet at 8:15 am Monday, October 3, 2022, at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway for an 8:30 am interment. Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Bales, Eddy Bales, Robert Bales, Nick Bales, R.C. Bales, and George Haines. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the USMC Wounded Warrior Project.
