Jack McWilliams, age 87, of Knoxville died Thursday morning, Feb. 23, 2017.
Mr. McWilliams was born May 10, 1929, and grew up in Shawanee, Tenn. He attended Middlesboro High School in Kentucky, where he met his future wife, Lorraine Bisceglia, and was a three-time letter winner in football and basketball. Mr. McWilliams served with the 1st Cavalry Division in the U.S. Army in the Korean War in 1951-52. After his discharge from the Army, he earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He spent his entire career as a salesman in the transportation industry.
In 2006, Mr. McWilliams was inducted into the Middlesboro Sports Hall of Fame.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda McWilliams Mason; parents, James Franklin and Bessie Brittain McWilliams; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Ann McWilliams; and sister, Mildred McWilliams.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Lorraine B. McWilliams; son and daughter-in-law, David and Susanne McWilliams of Winston-Salem, N.C.; son, Dan McWilliams of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Desiree McWilliams of Knoxville; son-in-law, Michael Mason of Chattanooga; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Billie and Glen Williams of Knoxville; sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Don Cheek of Harrogate; two nieces and two nephews; four great-nephews; and several cousins.
