Jack Lyndell Jenkins, age 81, born on June 9, 1942 – October 4, 2023. He is a graduate of Powell High School, class of 1960. After high school, he enlisted in the Army and went to basic training at Aberdeen proving grounds in Maryland where he trained to be a machinist. He then went on to work as a machinist at Y-12 for 32 years. During this time, he partnered with Charles McDaniel and the two of them ran a dairy farm (3J Dairy) for 12 years. After retiring he had another career working with his son James building homes. He was a member of the Powell Lodge #582, and was a 32nd degree Mason. He loved farming, his grandchildren, and his family. He and his wife attended the Church at Sterchi Hills. He is preceded in death by beloved parents Herman M. and Lucille Jenkins. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Jeanette Jenkins, his sons Jerry (Christy) and James (Amy); 5 grandchildren Anna, Gracey, Caleb, Abby, and Maggie Jenkins and brother Anthony L. (Henrietta) Jenkins. Family and friends will meet on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 9:45am at Woodhaven cemetery for a 10:00am graveside service officiated by, Rev. Joel Dew. In lieu of flowers family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association or The Church at Sterchi Hills Missions Fund, 904 Dry Gap Pike, Knoxville, TN, 37918.
