Jack Eugene Lewis died at 2:07 AM on July 10, 2012, at Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville, TN. Jack had suffered through a difficult period in the past year due to operations on his throat for cancer, and ultimately coronary arterial disease took his life. Jack was a true and unique spirit who lived a great life, was loved by countless family and friends, and regardless of the circumstances always had a great attitude. He was the consummate professional, who took great pride in his work, and he was a passionately dedicated person to any cause he considered as important. He always tried to help his family and friends and was a welcome source of information where he had knowledge. For all who knew him, he will be remembered as: funny, yet serious; quiet, yet sometimes loud; stern, but loving; and just an all-around centered and grounded man, who respected people and life and only wanted the best for everyone. In this plane of existence, he leaves his dearly and thoroughly loved wife, Joanne or “Hootie,” of 45 years (They just celebrated their wedding anniversary on June 24th.), his son, John Eugene, and his daughter, Julie N. Corvette, and her children, Collin Sharp and Reagan, and husband, Ron and his children Storm, Jared, and Jordan. He will be sorely missed by all of his close cousins, friends, and church family. He is preceded in death by his wonderful parents Rupert Eugene (“Dad” and “Papaw”) and Ailene W. (“Mom” and “Grandmother”) and his brother Roger Kyle. Jack was an alumnus of the Halls High School class of 1956, he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1965, and after over 4 decades as a self-employed truck driver he worked as a valued employee for J&S Cartage, Inc. the last several years. We celebrate the transition of a beautiful life of a great husband, father, and friend and will honor his memory at a service at the Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel on Saturday July 14, 2012, at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, we ask you to make a donation to your favorite charity in Jack’s name.
