Jack Denny Burnette, age 84 of Corryton, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025, with his family holding his hardworking hands. He is at home with his heavenly family, mother Ruby Blakely, stepfather Hubert Blakely, and he is finally able to meet his father Charles Burnette. He is reunited with his wife of 64 years Jean Burnette, brothers Charles and J.T. Burnette, daughter and son-in-law Lisa Burnette Mendenhall and Ricky Mendenhall, and granddaughter Keely Mendenhall. Survived by son Denny Burnette (Jennifer), sister Sandra Faye Grigsby, grandkids Keefer Cooper (Cody), Ashley Davis (Alec), Austyn Burnette, Aleyah Burnette, great-grandkids Draxxon Cooper, Keyairah Cooper, Christian Burnette, Palmer Davis, Ariyah Page, Nemo Cooke, and Delayah Moss; along with many others, he was a papaw to everyone. Jack was a lifelong ironworker for TVA and a “jack-of-all-trades”. Whether he knew how to fix something or not, he could come up with a fix or twang it up until he got it done. If he wasn’t piddling to pass the time, he would sit and watch any movie, any time, anywhere, with anyone. Westerns were his favorite movies and we had a hard time finding one he hadn’t seen. He was a mild farmer his whole life, from food to tobacco and livestock. He gardened a little bit of everything with his wife Jean by his side. We love you and sure will miss all of your stories. Until we see you again, we’ll be sure to eat plenty of ice cream for you and turn a cowboy movie on every now and then. Family and friends will meet at 2:45pm Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Rocky Dale Cemetery in Corryton for a 3:00pm graveside service, Rev. Andy Lynn officiating.
