Jack Allen Merritt, of Halls Crossroads, Tenn., age 76, passed away to join friends and family in Heaven on Thursday at 10:15pm at Halls Tennova Hospice. He was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Burlington Lodge #763 , member and brother in good standing for 51 years, F&AM, Knoxville Scottish Rite, Bodies Ancient and Accepted Freemasons, Member and Brother of Kerbela Shrine Temple. Also saved and baptized of the Christian faith; member of Salem Baptist Church for over 30 years. He was owner of Jack’s Automotive Supply in Halls Crossroads, Tenn. A class President and Mr. Halls High and Captain of the Halls football team, class of 1959. Preceded in death by grandparents and parents, Earl Merritt and Jewel Merritt Hale; stepfather, Clyde Hale and sister, Melba M. Welch. Survived by wife of 53 years, Mrs. Bobbie N. Merritt; sons, Robert Dean Merritt and wife Karen; Richard Allen Merritt and wife Gina; grandchildren, Alexandra Brockman, Adam Brockman, Emily Merritt, Madison Merritt and special grandson Jackson Dean Merritt; brother, Raymond Earl Merritt; stepbrother, Eddie Hale; stepsisters Debbie Watson and Pat Wilford; sister-in-law, Glenda N. Hickman; brother-in-law, R.V. Welch. Special thanks to the Johnson Family, Janice, Lisa, Mallory, Scott, Ken and the rest of y’all. Special thanks also to Tennova Health and Hospice staff and patient care management teams, Donna, Shelly, Mallory, Carla, Robin, Megan and a bunch of others. Serving as pallbearers, Dean and Allen Merritt, Brian Lewis, John, James, Justin Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Brock, Eddie Hale, Sherman Mitchell, Ken Johnson and Lynn Yearwood. The family will receive friends 5-7PM Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow, Rev. John Holland officiating.
