J. Ralph Lewis, age 97, of Knoxville, passed away July 22, 2014. He was born July 7, 1917. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, former co-teacher of Revealers Sunday School class, WWII U.S. Marine Iwo Jima Survivor, lifetime member of Marine Corps League, and had retired from Avondale Farms Creamery. He was preceded in death by wife Ruth O. Lewis, and sons Gordon and Edwin Lewis. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Cara and Ken Boyd, nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and special friends Preston and Frances Ryan, and Bevin and Irene Brown. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, August 9th at Christ United Methodist Church, 7535 Maynardville Hwy. with Rev. Dennie Humphreys, Rev. Charla Sherbakoff, and Rev. Teresa Atkins McClure officiating. A military service will be held at The East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike Friday August 8th at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Ralph Lewis to Christ United Methodist Church for the youth fund at 7535 Maynardville Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37938.
