Iva Stanley, age 92, of Knoxville, passed away August 21, 2013. She was born in Grainger County, Tennessee to Elsie and Beecher Mitchell on September 3, 1920. She lived in Union County, Tennessee for over 65 years where she and her husband, J.E., raised their 3 children. She has lived the last 15 years in Peterson Place in Halls Crossroads. She was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church in Halls and an active member of the Revealers Sunday school class. Preceded in death by husband, J. E. Stanley. Survived by daughter, Carolyn (Don) Ray, and Sandra (Ted) Thacker; son, Larry (Marlene) Stanley; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Lola Myers; brothers, Winfred Mitchell, and Audley Mitchell; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Susan Allen, and a host of other beloved friends. She was often referred to as the best cook in Union County. She was a sweet, caring, generous lady who loved her dancing, bingo, exercise classes, shopping, many craft projects for church, cooking, reading, and most of all her family. She had a heart of gold and a special place in our hearts. A Celebration of Iva’s life will be held 2:00 pm Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Rev. Dennie Humphreys and Dr. Bruce Marston officiating. Interment will follow at Lynnhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1:00 – 2:00 pm Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel.
