Irene Essary Lawson Brown, age 94, of Knoxville, born May 11, 1922 in Tazewell, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016. She was a retired civilian employee of the U.S. Army and charter member of Christ United Methodist Church in Halls Crossroads. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Glenn Lawson; parents, Grover and Cretia Neely Essary; sisters, Pauline Willis, Vida Brooks, and Betty Davis; brothers, Hugh, Joe Frank, and Cecil Esssary. Survived by husband, Bevan Brown; son, Greg (Sarah) Lawson; step sons, Bevan (Van) and Jeffrey Brown; step daughter, Myra (Randal) Lindsay; step grandchildren, Mara Brown Fisher and Jenna Brown; sister-in-law, Barbara Essary; also several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the caregivers at Tennova Residential Hospice in Halls. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Helping Hands Ministry, Christ United Methodist Church, 7535 Maynardville Highway, Knoxville, TN 37938 or a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends 10:00 – 11:00 am Saturday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow. Family and friends will then proceed to Lynnhurst Cemetery for interment.
