Howard Leon Cooper age 90, of Knoxville, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Old Rugged Cross Baptist Church with his family. He was a long-time member of Whittle Springs Golf Course. He retired from the City of Knoxville Fire Department after 25 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Avril and Mildred Cooper, wife, Betty Rose Cooper, son, Jeffrey Barron Cooper, great-grandson, Wesley Cooper, and sister, Eddie Neeley.
He is survived by his son, Steve (Vickie) Cooper, daughter, Vickie (Bufford) Moore, grandchildren: Steven Cooper, Amy (Arnold) Watkins, Kimberly (Michael) Smith, Jeremy (Stephanie) Cooper, Kevin (Traci) Cooper, Amanda Cooper, and Samantha (Stephen) Tarver; several great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, brothers: Buddy Cooper, John (Helen) Cooper, and Frank (Joan) Cooper; and sister, Ester Garret.
Friends and family may call at their convenience Monday, February 24, 2025, from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel. Family and friends will meet Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 10:45 am at Lynnhurst Cemetery (2300 Adair Drive, Knoxville) for an 11:00 am graveside service officiated by Pastor Robin Ryder.
