Homer Butcher was a man who never met a stranger, at least they were not strangers for long. He was known for his firm handshake, no nonsense business mindset, and willingness to help those in need. He spent his life in the automobile business. As co-owner of Butcher Volkswagen, Homer often spoke of fond memories of his customers and memories of the evolving automobile industry were filled with stories that showed his clear passion for the business. He served in the Army's infantry divis_i on during World War II. During this time he was part of 4 invasions, and was proud to his final days of the part he played serving our country.
Homer (Jabo) Butcher Jr., age 96, parted this world on August 7, 2020. He was surrounded by his family and caregivers as he passed peacefully into the hands of God. He was proceeded in death by his parents, H.U. and Lilith Butcher, his two sisters, Edwina Hargis and Georgia Matheney, and his brother, Hugh Butcher. Homer shared 78 years of marriage with his wife, Nadine Wilson Butcher who survives in life. He left behind a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Patsy Butcher, grandchildren, Lynn Butcher and Mark and Pennye Brewer, great-grandchildren, Matthew Hibbert and Emily and Brittany Wolfenbarger. He also will be remembered and loved by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would also like to thank the caregivers that have selflessly aided our family during this time of need.
