Homer Edward Mcmahan

November 5, 1933 — February 19, 2017

Homer Edward McMahan, age 83 of Knoxville, went to be with our Lord and Savior on February 19, 2017, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force and is retired from the Knox County Schools maintenance paint department. He loved singing gospel music and served as choir director throughout his life at New Beverly Baptist Church, Valley View Baptist Church and Son Light Baptist Church, a church he deeply loved and is presently a faithful member. Homer is preceded in death by his two grandsons, Wesley McMahan, Bret Brogan; mother and father and many brothers and sisters. He leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Mary McMahan; sons, Kenneth, Danny and Richard; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Gina; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Rick Brogan; daughter and son-in-law, Sheri and Scott Brewer; grandsons, Adam, Jared, Nick, Matthew, Tyler and Derek; granddaughters, Leslie, Heather, Amy, Jennifer; surviving sister, Willie Crawford; as well as his many loved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Homer was deeply loved, touched many lives and will be sorely missed by all whom knew him. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm Wednesday at Sonlight Baptist Church, Rifle Range Road, Knoxville, with funeral service to follow, Rev. Eddie Myers and Rev. Michael Torrence officiating. Family and friends will meet 11:45 am Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery for 12:00 pm interment.
