Hobert Andrew "H. A." Loy

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Hobert Andrew “H.A.” Loy, age 87, of Knoxville, TN, on March 20, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.  H.A. was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, poppy, and pop-pop, known for his kind, humble, and hard-working spirit.  Born on January 21, 1938, in Knoxville to Andrew Hobert and Hallie Loy, H.A. graduated from Halls High School, starting his career at Graning Paint before moving on to his long-term employment at Capper, Inc. as a Press Operator. On August 30, 1958, he married the love of his life and best friend, Alice Rucker. When not tending to the family farm, H.A. could often be found on the golf course with friends, proudly boasting his two hole-in-ones. A devoted member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, he cherished time with his family, enjoyed walks and bike rides on nature trails with Alice, and never passed up a cone of vanilla soft-serve ice cream. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.  H.A. was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Margaret, and his son-in-law, Buddy Tarver. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Alice Loy; his daughter and son, Susan Tarver (Jay Witt) and Andy Loy, his granddaughters, Tessa (Donnie) Clift and Alex Loy, and his great-grandchildren, Owen and Emma Clift.  Family and friends may call at their convenience on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, 4131 E. Emory Road, Knoxville, TN 37938.  Family and friends will meet 12:45 PM Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Lynnhurst Cemetery for a 1:00 PM graveside service, Dr. Alan Price officiating.
