Herbert Graham Jared, age 89, passed away August 11, 2013. He was of the Christian faith and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. He was retired as an electrical Engineer with the TVA. Herbert served as past president and treasurer of the Downtown Lions Club and was a member of the Fountain City Lions Club, a member of the American Council of the Blind and had many awards and commendations for his service in these memberships. Preceded in death by parents; Lora and Joseph Jared, first wife; Mary Katherine Jared, sister; Joan Holman. Survivors include wife Gwendolyn Jared, children Lora Shouse and husband Steve, Rachel Murray and husband Charles, Sherbie Hampson and husband Jack, grandchildren Amanda Shouse, Matthew Van Hart, Jared and Kitty Hampson, Sarah and Nancy Murray, great-grandchildren Audrey Van Hart, Trinity Rudd, brother Billy Jared, sisters Jean Blaylock and Martha Lee Asplund. In lieu of flowers please make donations to East Tennessee Chapter of the American Council of the Blind, 1709 Sundrop Dr. Knoxville, TN 37921. Friends and family will meet 11:15am Thursday at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, Gov. John Sevier for graveside service at 11:30am with Rev. Fritz Haverkamp officiating.
