Henry J. Bannen, 86, Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Pine Knoll Shores and Morehead City, NC for 29 years, died on May 30, 2023.
Henry was born on July 25, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA. He moved to Boston, MA where he went to secondary school. Henry graduated from Boston University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Henry served in the US Naval Reserve during the Korean War. He worked at National Radio and then General Electric, retiring from GE after 30+ years in their power generation business.
On Labor Day of 1962, he married Yvette Marcoux and together they lived in Malden, MA, Endicott and Binghampton, NY, Portland, ME, Hanahan, SC, and back to Melrose, MA. After retirement in 1992, they moved to North Carolina.
In retirement, Henry became a volunteer EMT for Pine Knoll Shores and did this for 8 years. He enjoyed fishing very much and the adventures with his friends and family.
Henry was predeceased by his parents and his half-siblings George, Arthur, and Nellie Johansson. His sister Maureen Kilgallen passed away in early 2023. Yvette passed away in November, 2022.
He is survived by his son John and wife Jennifer Bannen of Maine, daughter Dianne Bannen of Walland, Tennessee, son Thomas and Sally Bannen of Falmouth, Maine, and daughter Joanna and husband Louis Candoli of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Colleen, Sophia, and Gabriella from Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at East Tennesee Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway. Military honors will be provided. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mynattfh.com
