Helen Kurtz, 93, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Toronto, Canada, Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024. She is survived by her sister, Betty, devoted and loving daughter, Jacqueline, son-in-law, Stephen, and cherished grandchildren, Daniel and Olivia.
Helen graduated with an Accounting Diploma from the Toronto Central High School of Commerce and completed her education at Harbord Collegiate Institute. A meticulous bookkeeper, Helen managed medical offices during her career in Cleveland, Ohio. She loved gardening, reading biographies, movies, long car rides in the country, antiquing, and all things Yiddish. After retiring, she joined the Yiddish Club at the Columbus JCC and was recognized with an award by the Club leader for her beautiful and fluent Litvak dialect. Helen's greatest joy in life though was being a doting grandmother.
A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the New Jewish Cemetery, 1800 Glenn Ave., Knoxville, TN 37921. Family will receive friends for Shiva after services from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Temple Beth El, 3037 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.
