Helen Elizabeth Mincey, age 81 of Corryton, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022. She was the owner of Helen’s Flowers which she started in 1964, when her oldest daughter married, she was determined to do her entire wedding. She took several cake decorating classes and that was the beginning of Helen’s Flowers and Catering which she continued until her retirement. You ordered flowers from her because you knew they would be perfect with a special touch. During her career she made weddings more special and funerals more bearable for a multitude of families. She also along with her husband operated Mincey’s Market and three locations of Shoe Country. Upon retirement Mom moved to N Myrtle Beach and enjoyed life there for 16 years. She became a faithful and active member of Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church where she volunteered with their homeless ministry called Hope’s Kitchen. She could most often be found taking care of or running errands for many of her friends. She also worked for Grand Strand Senior Center. She loved everyone and never failed to tell you when you were in her presence. This was evident by the number of nurses that kept saying “she is my favorite patient”. As her granddaughter said “she is the one who taught us to be strong and independent and to take no sh*t from anyone, ever. Preceded in death by her parents Roy and Blonnie Beeler, father of her children Bill Mincey, precious daughter TerryJo Chandler, sons-in-law Bryan Chandler and David Horsley, her sister Glenda McCarty, and infant brother Stephen Beeler. Survived by her rock Gina Horsley, her pride, song bird and baby girl Mary Mincey, favorite granddaughter Angela Chandler, favorite grandsons Jeremiah Horsley, Evan Pettit, Jacob (Victoria) Horsley, and SPC William Jordan Mincey, great grandsons Hudson and Tucker Horsley and Aiden Colquette, and best friend Melissa Pack.
