Helen Cornett

Helen Louise Cornett, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully in her home on September 9, 2018. Louise was best known for her Sunday dinners, beautiful gardens, fashionable style, and above all, her devotion to her family. Whether it was making sure everyone had something to eat, or inviting one back for another visit, Louise always created a sense of home to her family and friends. Daughter of Lydia and Verlin Merritt, Louise was born on May 15, 1932 and raised in Knoxville TN with her 7 brothers and sisters. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, M. Hurst Cornett, her cherished son, David Eugene Cornett, and her brothers and sisters, Gene Merritt, Vivian Prince, Bud Merritt, Robert Merritt, Irene Burleson, and T.H. Merritt. She is survived by her devoted sister, Betty Newman. She also leaves behind her loving and loyal son Martin Jeffrey Cornett, daughter in love, Gail (Scott Ridings), and affectionate grandchildren Crystal and Will (Miller), Keniazh Cornett, Camryn Cornett, and David Cornett. She is also survived by her greatest pride and joy, her great-granddaughter, Sophia Miller. Family will receive friends from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City. Funeral service will be at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City with interment to follow at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens.
