Harvey E. Coppock, age 100, left this home for his heavenly home on Friday, March 25, 2021 at Beverly Park Place. Born in 1920 in Union County, he is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ida Belle Coppock, four sisters, two brothers, and wives Pauline Seymour Coppock and Mae Hoffner Coppock. Harvey is survived by his daughter, Patricia Coppock McCally and son-in-law Paul L. McCally of Bellbrook, Ohio; granddaughters Cindy McCally Evans (Matt Evans) and Lisa Danielle McCally Rowell (Bryan Rowell); great-grandchildren Sarah Evans, Josh Evans, and Hannah Rowell; one sister, Christine Fielden; and several nieces and nephews. After Maynardville High School, Harvey worked at Alcoa Company before attending Ford Motor Engineering school in Michigan from 1943 until he was drafted into the U.S. Navy, where he served on the USS Density, a mine sweeper in the Pacific Theater during WWII. After the Navy, Harvey returned to Alcoa Company until 1950, when he began working at Y-12 Oak Ridge, where he worked until his retirement in 1985. The highlight of his tenure at Oak Ridge was participating in the design of the containers used for the Apollo space mission to transport lunar samples to Earth. Family will receive friends Sunday, March 28, 2021 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, service to follow at 7:00pm, Rev. Jimbo Duncan officiating.
