Glenn Paul Wood, 85 of Corryton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior January 9, 2016. There he was reunited with Allene, his wife of 62 years. He was a member of Loveland Baptist Church. He proudly served in the Korean War where he was wounded and was recipient of The Purple Heart. He was put in for The Bronze Star for his bravery. He also received The Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars and The United Nations Service Medal. He spoke often of how proud he was to have served his country. Preceded in death by his wife, Allene Wood; parents Judd and Cleo Wood; brothers, Adrian Wood of Corryton, and Don Wood of Powder Springs; sister Rosella Morgan of Corryton. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Nancy and Jimmy Carlisle, Paula and David Walden, Larry and Liz Wood, and Sandy and Greg Fisher all of Corryton. Grandchildren: Philip and Koa Wood, Megan and John Huling, David Walden Jr., Tiffany Wood, Faith Fisher, and Brad and Melanie Carlisle. Great-grandchildren: Jabin Wood, Mini D. Walden, Braden Carlisle and Lillie Grace Carlisle. He has one surviving sister, Lois Zachary, of Corryton. He also has many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He had two special caregivers and friends, Peggy Stanifer and Donna Hutchinson. Special thanks to his Physician Dr. Fred Hurst for his friendship and care for over 40 years. Service will be 1pm Wednesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel, Rev. Oliver Wolfenbarger, Rev. Jerry Copeland, and Rev. William Purvis officiating. Family and friends will then proceed to Washington Pike Presbyterian Cemetery for interment. Pallbearers: Larry Wood, Philip Wood, David Walden Jr., Billy Stanifer, Melvin Wood, and Gary Wood.
