Glenn A. McCarty, age 81, of Knoxville passed away at Holston Health and Rehab, May 7, 2013. He was a member of Washington Pike United Methodist Church, a former President of Methodist Men, served in the food pantry, and was a mentor for Bell Morris Elementary School. He was a Marine Veteran serving during the Korean conflict. He was the owner of Broadedge Barber Shop and retired from Hostess Cake Company as a route salesman and also served as branch manager in Knoxville and Chattanooga receiving the honor of being named Branch of the Year in 1979. He was preceded in death by parents Ernest and Viola McCarty, brothers James E. and Clinton O. McCarty, and sister Jacqueline Thompson. Survivors include loving wife of 61 years Goldie McCarty, daughter Glenda Henry and son-in-law Tom Henry, sister-in-law Jo-Ann McCarty, brother-in-law Emory Thompson, many nieces, nephews, and loving caregivers at Holston Health and Rehab. Special friends Mark and Diana Saia, Carolyn Kitts, Brenda Hannah, and Kayla Bowker. Funeral service will be 8 PM Friday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with Rev. Dr. Patrick C. Polis and Rev. Brock Webster officiating. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Washington Pike United Methodist Church or Holston Health and Rehab Activities Department. Family and friends will meet 11:15 AM Monday at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery Governor John Sevier Highway for interment at 11:30 AM. Military honors will be provided by TN National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City.
