Glenda Faye Deatherage peacefully passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at the age of 74 in her home … surrounded by her compassionate caregivers. She was a resident of Buckingham 1 [East Tennessee Homes] in Greeneville, Tennessee. Although Glenda was born with intellectual and developmental disabilities, her family and friends focused on the many things she could do. Glenda could smile, she could laugh and she could feel unbridled happiness. She could love without condition, and she could show her love without ever saying a word. Glenda always knew love is not only shared through words … love is much deeper than words. She inspired those who adored her to work harder to overcome the challenges life presents. Glenda was an example of kindness, gratitude, patience, perseverance, resilience, and inner strength. Most importantly she gave her beloved ones the gift of unconditional love. Those who loved Glenda will miss her sweet spirit, her mischievous smile and contagious laughter. Glenda was born on October 18, 1948 in Jefferson City, Tennessee. Her parents were Glenden Ferrell Deatherage and Dorothy Helen Cochran Deatherage. She is survived by her sisters Diana [Bill] Waldrip] of Rockford and Karen {Mike} Lane of Knoxville, her nephews Jeff [Angela] Lane and Brandon [Kelly] Waldrip and great nieces and nephews Noah, Emma and Cora Lane, Austin, and Addison Waldrip. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of East Tennessee Homes, especially those who cared for Glenda in Buckingham 1. There will be a small memorial service for immediate family members with Reverend Jeff Lane officiating. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Church C/O Salem Baptist Church, 8201 Hill Road, Knoxville, TN 37938 or the charity of your choice.
