Roach, Gladys Wells – 87 – of Knoxville, passed away on December 23, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. She was the last surviving child of John and Pearl Wells and the last surviving member of the original family of James and Priscilla Roach. Predeceased by husband, William Clinton Roach; son-in-law, Cary John Humphreys; and children-of-the-heart: Garry Maddox, Jimmy, Gail, and Jerrell Shaffer. Survivors: daughter, Judy Humphreys; grandson, Christopher (Lori) Humphreys; granddaughters: Suzanne “Niki” (Leland) Price, Brooke Maddox; son-of-the-heart Terry (Billie Jo) Shaffer; great-grandchildren: Lexi and Olivia Price and McKenzie and Morgan Humphreys; special niece, Magdalene Morgan; special friend, Barbara Dees; and many other special nieces and nephews. Her role in life was as a caregiver for everyone in her family and she continued this role until August 27, 2012. She attended Beaverdale Baptist Church for many, many years and currently worshipped at Clear Springs Baptist Church. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 27 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel with funeral to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Leland Price and Rev. Brent Turnmire officiating. Family and friends will meet on Friday at 10:45 a.m. at Fort Sumter Community Cemetery for a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. with Minister Imogene Haynes officiating.
