Gerald "Jerry" McPhetridge (age 78) was born in Maynardville, TN on July 26, 1937 and earned his wings on December 1, 2015 at 1:38pm in his home, in Knoxville, TN, where his wife and daughter were at his bedside holding his hands. Gerald accomplished many great things throughout his lifetime, such as: establishing the first Western Auto store in Union County, being a master barber and owning his own shop, owning/managing Maynardville Mobile Home Village, volunteering in the Rescue Squad, being a member of the Masonic Lodge, and volunteering with the March of Dimes. He considered his greatest accomplishment to be spending time with his wife and daughter during his retirement. His life was shortened by the onset of chronic dementia. He was preceded in death by his father, Ostro McPhetridge; mother, Daisy Henry; stepfather, James Henry; and countless loved ones. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Brenda Russell McPhetridge (age 53); his daughter, Misty Dawn McPhetridge (age 24); his half-sister, Cheryl Suzor; as well as 4 estranged children from a previous marriage. Funeral service will be held 8:00 PM, Friday, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, Doug Harris officiating. Family and friends will meet 9:45 am Saturday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel and proceed to Skaggs Cemetery for interment service at 11:00 am . The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel.
