Gerald D. Gaines (Duane), age 49 of Roane County, passed away November 25, 2014. He was in the Air Force for 20 years. His love for his family and extended family knew no bounds. Duane was an exceptional man who had many loyal friends. He was a very intelligent man with a work ethic like no other. He battled ALS for a year and a half. He fought a horrific battle to set an example for his children and grandchildren. He remained strong in mind and spirit throughtout his illness. Survived by parents, E. Gerald and Nancy Gaines; brother, Michael K. Gaines; wife, Caroline Gaines; children, Chasity Gaines Byrd, Jeremy Gaines, and Michael Gaines; grandchildren, Tyler Gaines, Jacob Sloan, Makyla McCarroll, Abel E. G. Gaines; special Comcast friends, Don Jones, Laurie Sherazze, Jeremy Stevens, Gary Autry. Funeral service 7:00 pm Saturday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Rev. David Pryor officiating. Family and friends will meet 9:15 am Monday at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier, for 9:30 am interment. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm Saturday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel.
