Georgia Lillian Wright, age 91 of Corryton, passed away Feb 29, 2016. She relocated from Loyston in 1935 to the Corryton community as a result of the formation of the lake behind Norris Dam. Georgia was life time member of Clapps Chapel United Methodist Church and a member of Corryton Chapter #337 Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a full time dairyman with production awards from Dairyman Inc., Knoxville Breeders Association and The University of Tennessee until retiring in 1976.She was preceded in death by husband William P. Wright, parents James Loy and Stella Hill Loy Clapp, sister Fay Spitzer and husband Leon, brother Floyd Loy and wife Edna and brothers-in-law Harold Wright and Reed McKelvey. Survivors include sons Dave Wright and wife Patricia, Richard Wright and wife Jane, Charles Wright and wife Christina, grandchildren William, Travis, Julia, Tyler and Zachary, great grandchildren Ansley, Colby and Claire, sister Opal Thompson and husband James, and sisters-in-law Geraldine McKelvey and Mildred Wright. The family would like to express a special thanks to her loving caregivers. Memorials may be made to your choice of the Clapp’s Chapel United Methodist Building Fund or the Cemetery Maintenance Fund. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Thursday at Clapp’s Chapel United Methodist Cemetery for 11 am interment. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends 4:00-7:00 Wednesday at the funeral home.
