Georgia Thomas King

Georgia Ruth Thomas King, age 87, of Mascot. TN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.  

Georgia is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John M. King, Jr.; son, Ron King; grandchildren, Dustin Caughron, Dustin King, Jessica Akin; great grandson, Kaiden King Theiland; siblings, Bill, Ed, Earl and Blanche; and also, by her parents, Charlie and Bertha Thomas.

She was Saved at the age of 12, but it wasn’t until September 12, 1965, when Georgia joined New Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in which she found her church family - and there she remained loyal until her passing.   She never met a stranger.  It has been said that Georgia raised half the neighborhood; she never wanted anyone to go hungry, and no one ever did.  She will be remembered fondly by all who joined her on her numerous skating adventures and for her kind Christian example.  

Throughout her life, Georgia worked for Standard Knitting Mills, where she met her husband, and together they started King Roofing Company, however, it was her job as wife, mother and grandmother that gave her life meaning.  

Georgia leaves an enormous legacy; children, Vickie, Don (Gail), Mickie (Dean), James (Kimberly), Connie (Robert), Ginger, and Johnny; brother-in-law, Sonny (Violet) King; sisters-in-law, Barbara King Polley, and Faye Thomas; sisters, Dorothy, Helen, Pat and Robin; several grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren; and many more cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 13, 2024, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM with the funeral service to follow at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel.   Mrs. King will be laid to rest on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 11:00 am, Roseberry Cemetery (2920 Roseberry Road, Mascot, TN 37806).  Pastors, Andy Lynn, Jim Sharp, Jr. and Preacher Jonathan Grills, officiating.   

Pallbearers: Robby, Joseph, Adam, Jacob, Joey and Chris.   

Honorary pallbearers: Dean, Robert, Shane, DJ, Jon, Johnathan, Wesley, Jordan and David (H).  

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making donations to New Antioch Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
