George R. Duncan, age 90, born Christmas Day, 1925 to Charles M. and Delsie McMillan Duncan, went to be with the Lord August 5, 2016. A World War II veteran, he served as a B-24 ball turret gunner in the 13th Air Force. George was a faithful member of Faithway Baptist Church where he taught the men’s Sunday School class for many years. Preceded in death by daughter, Cassandra Duncan; granddaughter Tammy Wolever; and brother James Edward Duncan. Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife Lucy Vandella; daughter Melissa (Kenn) Holder and her sons Elgin and Clint (Amber) Weaver and their children Vanessa and Weston; sister Jennie Varner and her daughter, Debbie Copeland; George’s stepchildren David (Dana) Weaver, Debbie (Robert) Hill, Janet Brooks and Joseph (Donna) Weaver; special great granddaughters, Alexis Miller and Avery Hyde; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. Special thanks to Tommy and Angel Spencer and the care provided through Senior Home Assistance, UT Hospice nurses, staff and Chaplin Gloria Mencer and especially to Hospice Volunteer Sam Dalili who brought George so much laughter and happiness. Funeral service will be held 7:00pm, Sunday, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, with Rev. Richard Passmore and Rev. Robert Baltimore officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:30am, Monday, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls and proceed to Emory Pike American Christian Church for interment at 11:00am. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00pm, Sunday, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel.
