George Hobert Murphy

George Hobert Murphy went to be with the Lord November 29, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. He left a great legacy behind. He was the son of the late Henry and Lula Murphy. Preceded in death by his wife Christine Murphy and son Phillip Wayne Murphy. Survived by son David (Kathy) Murphy; daughters Bobbie (Bob) Stanton and Carolyn (Barton) Phelps; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters Charity Hensley of Kentucky, Dorothy (J.C.) Cox of Indiana, Frankie Andrews of Indiana, Maggie Smith of Kentucky; brother RB (Jackie) of Speedwell, TN. Special thanks to caregivers Pat Queener and Kelly with Avalon Hospice. Family will receive friends Friday December 1, 2017 at Dante Baptist Church from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. with service to follow, Rev. Lee Murphy and Rev. David Murphy Sr. Family and friends will meet Saturday December 2, 2017, 10:45a.m. at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens for 11:00a.m. interment. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and great-grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dante Baptist Church Building Fund.
