George Alfred James, age 91, of Corryton, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016. Alfred was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and attended Clear Springs Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of WWII as a member of Company B 172 Engineer Combat Battalion. He retired from KUB after 33 years of service, and was a 50 year member of Corryton Masonic Lodge #321. Alfred is preceded in death by daughter, Sharon James Smither, parents, Jesse and Nora James, sister, Helen Anderson, and brothers, Jesse and Charles James. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Wanda Lakin James, son-in-law William Smither; granddaughters, Jennifer Smither, Carrie and husband, Christopher Bilbrey; great-granddaughter Rose Johnson and her father Tony Johnson, and extended family. Alfred spent his life taking care of his family. He loved working in his yard and doing work projects for his family members' homes. His great-granddaughter Rose was the apple of his eye.
