Gene Lester Monday, age 81, of Knoxville, died August 20, 2015 at home. He was a member of Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, retired from Charles Wheeler Construction, and was owner/operator of Gene’s Crafts since 1981. He was preceded in death by father Carl L. Monday and brother Arnold L. Monday. Survivors included wife of 61 years Ethel Hendrix Monday, children Steve and wife Jane, Michelle Lotz, Chris and wife Deena, Kaye and husband Bob Sweat, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 100 year old mother Gladys Monday, sister Regina and husband Jim Stinnett, brother Mike and wife Susie Monday, sister-in-law Opal Monday, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Memorials can be made to Pastor’s Discretionary Fund at Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 7225 Old Clinton Pike, Knoxville, TN 37921. A funeral service will be held 7pm Saturday at Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Jean Richardson, Rev. Fred West, and Dr. Thomas Sweet officiating. Family and friends will meet Sunday at Lynch Bethel Cemetery by 1:45pm for a 2pm interment. The family will receive friends 5pm to 7pm Saturday at Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
