Gary Lynn Buckner

Buckner, Gary Lynn, age 54 of Knoxville, went to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ, on July 18, 2013. Gary was a member of Union Baptist Church and an employee of TDOT for 35 years. He was a loving and devoted family man who was renown for lending a helping hand towards both man and animal as well as enjoying a good lengthy conversation. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Buckner. Survived by his wife of 28 years, Cheryl Buckner; daughter, Chelsea Buckner; mother and step father, Zola and Jim Blair; brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Rene Buckner; niece, Jody Buckner Daugherty; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Peggy Smith; sister-in-law, Kaye Smith and brother-in-law, Scottie Crawford; as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family members and a multitude of friends. Funeral service 3:00 pm Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Rev. Gary Vandergriff officiating. Interment will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary’s brothers in Christ from Union Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Union County Animal Shelter. Family will receive friends 1:00 – 3:00 pm Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel.
