Garland L. Hart, age 86, of Powell, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 8th, 2018. He served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War and was present when the Truce was signed. He was employed at the Knoxville News-Sentinel for several years and then left to begin his own catering business. He loved fishing, being outdoors and creating art in the form of oil painting. He was preceded in death by parents; Rev. M.D. and Nora Hart, brother Paul Hart and sister Ruby Spencer. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Sue Hart, daughters; Sheila Hart and Julie (Doug) Buckley, brothers; D.J. (Betty Jo) Hart, C.B. (Janet) Hart, several nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 7th, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Mynatt Funeral home, Fountain City Chapel. Family and friends will meet at 11:15 a.m. for an 11:30 a.m. committal service on Thursday, March 8th, 2018 at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, Gov. John Sevier Highway.
