G. Farrel Smith

G. Farrel Smith, age 78 of Knoxville, TN passed away January 29, 2013 surrounded by family and friends. Born in London, KY May 27, 1934. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Graduated from Indiana Institute of Technology with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Math. Retired from Philips-Magnavox and owner with his wife Joyce of A.A. Top Hat Printing until their retirement. He enjoyed bridge, gardening and UK basketball. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Glen Smith and by his parents Sanford C. Smith and Mary Jane (Sasser) Smith and sister Flor-enz Smith. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Gabbard Smith; children Gary (Marilyn) Smith of Auburn, IN, Lisa (Roger) Sarasien of Waterloo, IN and Pamela Smith of Knoxville, TN; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson with 2 more great grandchildren on the way; brother Marnell (Joy) Smith; sister Delaphene (Ernie) Webb plus dozen of nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Honorary Pallbearers are: Larry Brown, Darren Brown, Jay Cummings, Gary Miller, Alfredo Mireles. Special thanks to Hospice nurses for their loving care, Pastor Mark McCoig, Pastor D and church family. Family will receive friends 1:00 – 2:30 pm Saturday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sharon Baptist Building on Faith Fund or the charity of your choice. Interment at a later date in London, KY.
