Frederica "Fritzy" J. Ober

Frederica “Fritzy” J. Ober, 97, of Corryton, Tennessee went Home to the Lord on Sunday, July 9, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Dr. Harold B. Cox and Mildred C. (Robertson) Cox Johnson on July 1, 1926, on a train in San Antonio, Texas. Fritzy married the love of her life, Arden G. Ober, Jr. on May 5, 1945. She was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana until she moved to Tennessee and attended Clapps Chapel Methodist Church. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Fort Wayne Community School Board, and was a Stephen Minister later in life. She and her husband, along with his father and other family members, owned and operated Business Equipment Company and Arden’s Gift Shop in Fort Wayne for many years. She enjoyed many boating adventures with her husband and family. Fritzy was a talented artist. She either painted or drew most of the art hanging in her house. She would also sell her art at local craft shows. She loved nature and looked forward to seeing her hummingbirds and flowers outside her window every spring and summer. She was loved by all everywhere she went. Fritzy is survived by her children; Vicky Overholser, Arden III (Cheri) Ober, and Mark (Vicki) Ober; grandchildren, Rick (Wendy) Overholser, Arden Ober IV, Holly Keiser, Nathan Ober, Ashley (Seth) Garrison, Amanda (Jason) Pagan, and Gabrielle Ober; great grandchildren, Richie, Morgan, Jared, Dylan, Natalia, Cadence, Lilly, Levi, Gwen, and Piper; special family friend Diane Kurtz; and a host of nieces, nephews, and lots of friends. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two siblings, a granddaughter, and a son-in-law. Visitation will be Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Clapps Chapel Methodist Church (7420 Clapps Chapel Road, Corryton, Tennessee 37721) from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow (Officiant, Rev. Dr. Chris Stanfield). Graveside service will be Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Greenlawn Memorial Park (6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne Indiana 46804) at 11:30 a.m. Anyone attending the graveside service should meet at the Greenlawn Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. for the processional to the gravesite (Officiant, Rev. Thomas A. Eggold). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Clapps Chapel Church or Emmanuel Lutheran Church (917 W. Jefferson Blvd, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46802).
