Fred Austin Weaver, Sr. of Halls passed away at the age of 93. When he was a teenager, he joined the CCC and served in the Great Smokey Mountains and in Oregon. Fred was a Vol fan and attended many of the games. He was also an avid golfer and played everyday until his health problems prevented him from playing. He had many friends at the golf course, as well as many other friends he leaves behind. He also liked to dance and seldom ever missed a dance night at either the Norris Community Center or Halls Community Center. Fred loved music and picked the guitar and banjo. He was, also a United States Army Veteran and served 4 years in WWII. Fred was a past 53 years member of the Bright Hope Lodge #557 F.&A.M., 32ND degree of Knoxville Scottish Rite, a member of Kerbela Shriners, and since 1968, he was a member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Since 1965, he was a member of Carpenters Local #50, and retired after many years of service with them. He also was employed with the Southern Railway in Chattanooga and retired after 12 years of service with them. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Frances (Fran) Sanderson Weaver, parents Hugh Lee and Ollie Cole Weaver, four brothers Earl, Philip, Carl, and Dennis, Two sisters Erma Lee and Virgie, his best friend and brother-in-law Bud Sanderson, four brothers-in-law Roy Henderlight, Jack Cox, Bob Smith, and Maurice and Elizabeth Martin. Fred is survived by son Fred A. (Freddy) Weaver, Jr. (Caroline), sister-in-law Jean (Gene) Major, and good friend Grace Childers. A funeral service will be held Tuesday in Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel at 7pm. Family and friends will meet at Ft. Sumter Cemetery by 10:45am on Wednesday for an 11am interment. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Tuesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, Kerbela Shriners, P.O. Box 868, Knoxville, TN 37901.
