Francis "Frank" Xavier Sommer III

Francis Xavier Sommer III, born October 22, 1958, and succumbed to a short and intense battle with cancer Tuesday, July, 18, 2023. Born in Barbourville, KY to Cy and Theo Sommer who preceded him in death. He began his life passionate about Boy Scouts and became an eagle scout at the age of 14. Graduate of Harriman High School in 1976. He spent his life from a small age creating wood sets and became a carpenter, who eventually assisted in the construction the World’s Fair of 1982. His life revolved around his family. He spent countless hours everglade fishing with his sons and daughter, teaching and coaching the intricacies of football, and teaching his woodworking craft to his son. Lover of Rock N Roll and all things Rolling Stones. He was a loud, enthusiastic Miami fan. He is survived by his soulmate, Renay Crane; children, Raquel Sankey (DeWayne), Brian Sommer, Francis Sommer, and William Harris (Perla); his loving sisters, Barbara Sommer and Lisa Sommer; his nieces and grandchildren. Frank was a great man and loved life to the fullest. He is dearly missed. Family will receive friends 10:00-11:00am, Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Powell Chapel, followed by memorial service at 11:00am. There will be a Celebration of Life to follow at 12:00pm, for Francis, “Frank” at the Jubilee Center, Jubilee Center Way, Callahan Dr. Knoxville, TN 37912.
