Frances Emma Sharp Carroll, age 85 of Halls Crossroads, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2014. She was born in Knoxville in 1928, and was proud of her 72 consecutive years of membership at Union Baptist Church of Halls where she was recognized last year as the oldest living member during the Church’s one hundred year anniversary celebration. Frances was a 1947 graduate of Halls High School and employed by Woolworth on Gay Street and the Broadway Shopping Center for 35 years. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Harley Carroll; parents, Jack and Stella Sharp; grandson-in-law, Chris Armstrong; sisters, Ethel, Alberta, Mary, Martha Alice, and Mildred; brothers, Chester, Benton, and baby Andrew. Survived by her daughter, Nancy Maddox and fiance’ Larry Hunter; son, Glenn Carroll and wife Janice; grandchildren, Jennifer Armstrong, Bradley Maddox and wife Michelle, Austin Carroll, and Wesley Carroll; great-grandchildren, Lily, Kenzie, Ella Grace, and Kendall; sister, Merlynn Wright of Winter Garden, FL; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm Friday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow, Rev. Gary Vandergriff officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Union Baptist Church of Halls. Family and friends will meet 10:15 am Saturday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel and proceed to Union Baptist Church Halls for 11:00 am interment.
